Margo Kingston's Webdiary - smh.com.au

"So Australia is to go the way of all states 'democratic' and ignore our constitution? We may not have a bill of rights, people, but we DO have a constitution.

Read it carefully. and then put it in to practice. OUR founding fathers envisaged a place where people had a voice and would not have to fight for it, but, slowly, slowly we have allowed government after governement to erode those fundamental rights, freedoms and responsibilities. They now do it in the name of 'security', draconian legislation of a type one formerly found in the old USSR - detention without charge, non-acsess to representation, denial of Habeus Corpus, these things ARE happening and this is not a conspiracy theory, this is happening and we watch it on the evening news and let it happen.

It was said that the people get the governement they deserve. The only way to stop these freedoms and rights being eroded is to take our citizenship seriously, take our responsibilities as citizens seriously and get active, get loud and get moving."

RealClimate Climate Science

"As highlighted in the introduction to the site, we seek to clarify the findings of scientists who study the earths climate, and have an informed view on the science of climate change. Additionally we will speak out where we feel that the public discourse surrounding the science is being detrimentally impacted by the shrill voices and disinformation campaigns of the partisan think-tanks or other interested parties'."

Viva la Ich

"So I didn't pass my exit exam... old news. Well I am trying to fight it. I believe that the teacher who graded my essay failed me beacause he did not personally agree with me that stealing and piracy were different. Unfortunately for him, the Supreme Court is on my side and says that they are different. Unfortunately for me, none of the teachers who I talk to about my exam have much pull in the LA department to help change my 'fail' into a 'pass.'"

Sony, Ken Jennings, and me (kottke.org)

"legal difficulties with Sony about the whole Ken Jennings thing have yet to be resolved. I can't say too much about it (soon perhaps), but it sure has had a chilling effect on my enthusiasm for continuing to maintain kottke.org."
